Benissa is not a fishing village, although its district borders are on the sea. However beaches are quite close: Calp is the most well-know (20 minutes away by car) or Moraira (25 minutes away by car), or the charming caves in Benissa’s coast (15 minutes away by car).
Although, the sea horizon is a constant reference point in this area, the Marina Alta region is more than a coastal landscape. If you look out to sea, where you can´t hear the waves, you will find almond trees and grapevines fields where dry stone walls tell us about a not so far gone agricultural past.
If you look inland, you will see the top of Bernia’s mountain outlined by the sunset. Close to this mountain, we have Aixa castle or Cavall Verd that will be waiting for your steps walking across old paths.
